Golden Gate Friends of Mongolia (GGFOM) is a service
organization dedicated to promoting understanding,
cooperation and cultural exchange between the
United States and Mongolia. Incorporated in 2001
in the State of California, our first public exhibition
was Zurag! Women Artists of Mongolia, the first
ever group show of contemporary women artists
from Mongolia to be shown in America.

GGFOM has produced musical events by many of
Mongolia's most celebrated performers, and is
dedicated to providing information for Mongolian
residents in the Bay Area in such areas as access
to social services and education, and legal issues.
Previously under the moniker of Mongolia 2000,
we have presented a variety of cultural and social
functions for the Bay Area's rapidly growing Mongol
population at SomArts Cultural Center in San Francisco
and other Bay Area venues. Working with the International
Culture Exchange Society (ICES), we have sponsored
cultural exchanges to Mongolia, starting with
Zurag! curator Betsie Miller-Kusz's mural workshop
in 1999.
We have hosted a wide variety of cultural, social
and informational functions such as Colors From
Mongolia, the first group show of Mongolian contemporary
artists in the USA in 2000, the visit by the Mongolian
Ambassador to the United States in 2001, and an
ongoing series of events to celebrate Mongolian
holidays like Naadam and Tsagaan Sar. GGFOM is
the organization that grew from these endeavors.
We are excited to be working with ICES to introduce
the beauty and traditions of Mongolia to new visitors,
and we welcome your participation in our young,
vibrant organization!
